I love decorating at Christmas time. It's just so magical. My favorite thing is curling up on the couch with hot coffee and a cozy blanket and sitting in the glow of the twinkle lights. I don't think I will ever outgrow that. Here are some of my favorite Christmas nooks I shared on Instagram.

Festive DIY Applesauce & Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments

12.07.2013

I love making ornaments for our Christmas tree. I think the best ornaments are the rustic ones with special meaning.  I am making it a new tradition to make some kind of ornament each year with my kids! This year I chose to make cinnamon applesauce ornaments like I remember making as a kid.

Here is what you will need:

1 cup of applesauce
1 1/2 cups cinnamon (I ended up adding more until a stiff dough formed)
Various mini cookie cutters - I used a star, heart, tree & gingerbread man.
Tooth pick
Diamond tip reamer (for making holes bigger when they come out of the oven)
Twine

Mix the cinnamon & applesauce in a large bowl. Keep mixing until there are no wet spots- really use your hands. Add additional cinnamon if needed until you have a really stiff mix.

Sprinkle some cinnamon on your counter top and roll your dough to approximately 1/4″ thick. Make sure to use enough cinnamon so you don't have a sticky mess on your hands, and counter, and rolling pin!

Use your cookie cutters and cut out the shapes & place them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Use a tooth pick to make holes in the tops for hanging.

Bake at 200 degrees F for 1.5-2 hours until they are hardened. Let them cool overnight.

When mine were dry, I could not get the twine through the hole, so I used my diamond tip reamer to carefully make the holes a little bigger.

I chose to use my solid red twine to hang my little guys from!

I love how these turned out! And they smell wonderful!! I am going to be hanging them on my little "kitchen tree" along with all my spoon ornaments!

Do you make your own Christmas ornaments? Leave a comment, I would love more ideas!

wear + dwell.

wear: 1//2//3 dwell: 1//2//3

I truly love fall. The new hope a change of season brings, the crisp cool air and the warm colors fall brings. I love to snuggle, so the coziness of fall is very appealing to me! Wrapping up in a warm blanket with my love by a fire - that is my favorite. And I love fall fashion & decor, it's all so warm and cozy!

I loved this theme so much that I made a Fall treasury expanding on this wear + dwell post if you wanna see it!

Happy October, friends!

Wear + Dwell is becoming one of my favorite new features! I have always loved curating collections like this. It was one of the reasons I started my blog: to share things that inspire me, to share things I love.  This wear + dwell puts me in the mood for fall.  Though it is sad summer is coming to a close, I do look forward to sweaters, boots, cuddling on the couch watching football...ok, the hubby watching football, me reading and cuddling!

Wear + Dwell Inspiration: Mint, Black & White.

You know how you have certain types of things that you love to shop for? Like make up, hair products, shoes, art or gadgets. My favorite things to shop for are clothes and accessories & decor for our home.

It's been over a year since we moved into our new home and I'm finally ready to really start making it our own.  I'm almost finished redoing the kids/guest bathroom & next up is our master bedroom.

We have never had a room all to ourselves.  Our last home was small and we only had room for our bed, a crib and a small dresser. It's nice having a big room just for us.  I want to make it a nice place for us to retreat to.  I joke that everything in my house is mint. I seem to only want to use that color....but I am going a new route and using black and white for our bedroom & I am so excited about it!

In addition to the inspiration above, you can see more inspiration on my Pinterest board.

Monday Mash Up: Create A DIY Number Wall

5.06.2013

The start of my number wall via Instagram

I have a thing for Numbers...maybe that's why I married one? Ok, lame joke! Give me a break, it's Monday!

Anyway, I love decorating with vintage. That's a given. But I also love using Numbers, and it fits perfectly given our last name is Numbers.

I started a number wall in our living room playing off the fact that there are 5 of us Numbers'.  I have been collecting all sorts of number 5's & plan to surround our family picture with them.

I shared the picture of my (in progress) number wall on Instagram, and a few of you said you were looking for numbers too, so thought I would share some really cool ones I found.

While I was browsing, I found some more 5's to add to my collection, I bought this one and this one. I can't wait to get them! They will look perfect with the others!

Do you have a number wall? Do you decorate with numbers? Leave a link, I would love to see!

Old Shutters Turned Headboard + Bedroom Sneak Peek.

3.20.2013

When we moved to our new home about a year ago, it was the first time we had our own bedroom since we had kids.  For 6 years there was always a crib in our bedroom because we never had enough bedrooms for everyone.

I vowed to make us a cozy, private little retreat in this house.  I am not done by any means, but here is a peek at what I have done so far.

Here are some things I love:

Color
Old, rustic things
Re-purposing

Fun Prints

My amazing + colorful afghan from Emma was the inspiration for the colorful decor!

I wanted to combine all those things I love and make a cute, re-purposed headboard + focal point.

I have collected old things for a while now & put them to good use!

I LOVE my sheets from Target. They are so fun & bright and coming from a girl who is not a fan of sheets: COMFY!

Our room is still a work in progress & I want to do so much more, but I am happy with my little re-purposed headboard & the start of the decor!
