In 3 words I am: kind, smiley, optimistic
I can’t live without: my family.
This is how I like to Relax: I love reading Nora Roberts books – I totally want to visit Ireland ASAP, taking long, hot showers, playing piano, watching a movie with my husband.
My favorite Tv Shows/movies: Old favorites are X-Files, Buffy and Alias. New ones are Modern Family, Community, Bones, Tori & Dean and Jeopardy. I DVR it every night!
My favorite materials to work with are:  Floral fabrics, fabrics with bold patterns, anything with luscious, saturated color. I love soft linens for my roses.
My Hometown: I grew up in Beaver Falls, Pa (northwest of Pittsburgh) then settled down in Columbus, Ohio.
My favorite room in my house is: It’s gotta be my sewing room.
Because: I love the colors in it and the fact that I can display all my little collected pretties. I’m way outnumbered by boys in my house (the husband, 2 Yorkshire Terriers, a 3 year old and a 1 ½ year old), so it’s important to still be able to indulge myself with the pretty things in life!
Another reason I love my sewing room is because I love what I do in it! After having kids, I gained so much my life, but I also lost a little bit of myself. Do other moms know what I mean? Creating the things I do has helped me take care of myself amidst all the craziness that comes with having a family.
My favorite vacation was in: Lake Michigan when I was 11 years old. My family stayed in a cottage a short walk from the beach. Everything I remember from that vacation includes the sound of water, gorgeous sunsets and relaxing on a front porch. We’re taking a vacation to Gatlinburg this month with some family – I’m hoping it’s the best one yet!
My guilty pleasure is: Turning double stuff Oreos into quadruple stuffed Oreos. I twist off the cookie part of two Oreos and put them together to make them quadruple stuffed! And I typically eat them by the row!
I fear: Being afraid. I often pray that God will help me not to fear but to trust in His love. There’s so much in this world to be afraid off - just when I think of my own existence. But when I start thinking about my kids and my family, I get completely overwhelmed by what could happen to them. So anytime fear enters my mind, I pray.
This is what makes me smile: My awesome husband. He makes me laugh and completely gets me. Feeling safe and loved by him and loving him makes me smile without ceasing.
You may not know this about me: I’m a certified K-12 music teacher. I’ve taught for 8 years and love it. I’m in a Kindergarten/1st grade building and I ADORE making music with these little kids and being some of their first experiences with instruments and dancing and recognizing the irreplaceable power of music!
I’m also a super picky eater. I can’t bring myself to eat multiple textures at once. Forget sandwiches, casseroles, salads. Nope. Won’t do it! And the more you try to make me, the more stubborn I’ll get!
My Worst Habit: I pick at things when I’m anxious, my cuticles, my skin. I bite the insides of my cheeks. I’m working on it. ;)
I want to learn to: Do hand embroidery. Stuff like this is beautiful. http://pinterest.com/pin/63603717/
My favorite item I bought from another shop is: Two vintage bags with velvet flowers on them (hung up on my sewing room wall). I’m trying to start a collection of them but these suckers are hard to find!
My advice to other Etsy Sellers: There’s no one right way to run your shop! Don’t feel like you have to be like anyone else in order to have success. Be fair to others, true to yourself and create!
My typical day is: My amazing husband gets up with the kids during the week. This is huge for me. We tried taking turns but I hated the person I became (grumpy zombie mom) when I got up so early. So I end up getting up around 8:00, make some coffee and play with the kids. Since I’ve been off school for the summer, I’ve gotten to enjoy lots more time at home then when I’m teaching.
I usually work on shop stuff during naps. Every once in a while the kids play in my sewing room while I work.  They build train tracks at my feet, using glue sticks for “road blocks” and fabric strips for “finish lines”. My 3 year old puts all my fabric rosettes into a bucket and pretends they are in “trash cans” for his garbage truck to pick up. My 1 ½ year old empties out my scrap bins and copies everything his brother does. J The sewing room is a mess by the time they’re done, but I love watching them play while I work. It’s not often I can have the best of both worlds – being a mom and working, so I appreciate the rare times I do.
I stay inspired by: new fabric collections, reading blogs, checking out pinterest.
3 tools in my studio I can't live without: hot glue gun, sewing machine, the amazing Bobbin Buddies
