For as long as we have been married (since 2003) our bedroom has always been the hodge lodge catch all/ laundry room full of hand me downs and mismatched furniture. Embarrassing. And not really the master retreat I have always dreamed of. It only got worse when we had kids. I just focused more energy on their rooms and other parts of our home.
Recently I decided to turn our bedroom into a place we love to come and unwind together after long hectic days with 3 kids. I call it project: turn the master bedroom into a retreat...on a budget.
We have had this headboard stored for YEARS and I never really liked it. My husband wanted to get rid of it, but I made him keep it. I was about to paint it white when I saw Alyssa of Cottonwood Shanty's post. I loved what she did with it so I scratched my white headboard plans and whipped out my sander!
I love my DeWalt palm sander, I use it for so many projects and it was perfect for this one! I spent about an hour sanding to my liking.
Left: First round of sanding. Right: Now we are talking!
I am so happy with how this turned out! It matches so well with my style and the night stands I made! (Post on those coming soon!)
